Does It Hurt When The Hymen Breaks?

Monday, 4 December 2023

Does It Hurt When The Hymen Breaks?:A little bit of tissue called the hymen is located where the uterus opens in humans. When their hymen stretches or breaks, some people experience discomfort, but others do not.

A woman's hymen may break during her first experience with penetrating intercourse. She could bleed from this. A little skin flap called the hymen covers a portion of the uterine aperture. During sexual activity, it usually breaks if it hasn't already.

A woman's hymen may break, although it doesn't necessarily hurt or bleed visibly. It is not a sign that a lady has lost her virginity even if her hymen is damaged.

Other Things Can Cause The Hymen To tear

For example, certain sports and physical activities might cause the membrane to thin and stretch.

Among them are:

  • riding a horse
  • cycling on bicycles
  • clambering up trees or using jungle gyms
  • engaging in obstacle course play
  • gymnast dancing

Non-sexual things can also wear down your hymen, such as:

  • putting in menstruation cups or tampons
  • obtaining a Pap test
  • Transvaginal ultrasound examination

Sometimes the hymen bleeds when it tears. Blood volumes will vary throughout individuals. Similar to how you might not bleed after your first vaginal sex, you might not bleed when your hymen tears. Few people actually do.

There Are Different Types Of hymens

Not every hymen is the same size. Hymens come in five distinct varieties, which are referred to as:

Normal: hymen with a circular-shaped aperture.
  • When the hymen is cribriform, blood can pass through a number of tiny holes that allow blood to flow during the menstrual cycle.
  • Imperforate refers to a hymen with absolutely no hole.
  • Microperforate denotes an extremely tiny hole in the hymen.
  • A septate hymen is one that contains a narrow band of tissue in the center.

How To Ease Pain

From a medical perspective, a little soreness during intercourse is not cause for concern. However, extreme or protracted discomfort may indicate a medical issue.
  • Seeing a doctor is a wise decision if the discomfort becomes intolerable.
  • It hurts so much that it's difficult for you to walk and go about your day because of your vulva or vagina.
  • There's a peculiar leak coming from you.
  • You continue to bleed even after finishing.
  • discomfort that lasts more than a day.
  • It hurts every time you have sex.
